The passivation carried out by Alticolor is a trivalent chromium immersion process that gives the substrate increased protection against corrosion. The resulting conversion coatings are very thin, even less than 0.5 micron, and deliver a twofold action, protection against corrosion and support for the adhesion of organic finishes on the metal, using varnishes or paints.
The oxide layer obtained through the passivation of aluminium is slightly iridescent with blue-bronze hues. As metal conductivity remains unchanged, chromium passivation is a process that is particularly suited to products used in the electronic and military sectors.
